Residents Of the City Of Pontiac
- You must be at least 6 years old
- You must bring to the library with you a photo ID and proof of your current residence. Examples of valid identification:
- Drivers license with current address
- First-class mail received at your current address
- Utility bills that include your current address
- Your first library card is free. Replacement cards cost $2.00
- You must have your library card with you to check materials out at the library
- Individuals under age 18 must have a parent or guardian sign agreement to take financial responsibility for items checked out.
Residents Of Eppards Point, Esmen, Pike, and Rooks Creek Townships
Your township government has agreed to reimburse the library for the cost of your library card. You must follow all of the items required of City Of Pontiac residents above.
Residents Of Avoca and Owego Townships
Your township government has agreed to reimburse the library for the cost of your library card. You must follow all of the items required of City Of Pontiac residents above AND you must bring with you the letter sent to you from your township government indicating they will reimburse us for your library card.
Owners Of Property In the City Of Pontiac
If you do not reside in the City Of Pontiac, but you own property in the city, you are eligible for a library card. You must bring your local property tax receipt to the library when you apply for a card.
Non-Residents With Home Library Card
If none of the above apply to you and you have a valid library card from your home public library, simply bring it in and we will add you to our database to check materials out free of charge.
Non-Residents Without Library Card
If none of the above apply to you and you do not have a library card from another public library and we are the closest public library to you, we must charge $39 per family for a library card for one year. This charge is recalculated each year based on the amount of taxes an average family in the City Of Pontiac pays to support the Pontiac Public Library.
